About Me

As a former secondary English/language arts teacher with a doctorate in education, I understand the significant impact reading ability and enjoyment has on children’s future academic and career success. That’s why, as a mother of two young children, I want to provide them with the very best books and activities I can find. Usborne Books & More (UBAM) reflects best practices in education, reading, and motivation and is a publisher that I endorse not only as a parent, but also as an expert in the field of education. I’ve been a UBAM consultant for many years, serving families, facilitating school book fairs, and raising funds and free books for organizations, hospitals, and charities.

In addition to serving as a passionate UBAM team leader and independent consultant, I also work as a psychometric facilitator in the field of test development, train educators to work with their gifted and talented students, and serve on the board of the Michigan Association of Gifted Children. Previously, I worked as the Director of Programs and Student Admissions at the Ann Arbor School of the Performing Arts, a university and community college English instructor, high-school English teacher (Dual Credit, Advanced Placement), and middle-school journalism teacher. I have a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on gifted education, an M.Ed. in English Education, a BA in English with minors in journalism and secondary education, and an administrator (school principal) certificate in both Michigan and Texas.

Aside from raising my own two children, my most rewarding “job” is sharing UBAM books with others.
